Barrett Lopez is Managing Director and General Counsel – Corporate and M&A at Hightower. He leads the firm’s legal department and brings more than a decade of experience in mergers and acquisitions, as well as financial services regulation. Known for his practical, business-focused approach, Barrett works closely with Hightower’s leadership to provide strategic legal guidance on a wide range of complex issues.

Since joining Hightower in 2019, Barrett has played a key role in structuring and negotiating Hightower’s acquisition transactions. He previously served as Deputy General Counsel and has been instrumental in supporting the firm’s continued growth.

Before joining Hightower, Barrett practiced at Winston & Strawn in Chicago, focusing on financial services. He began his legal career in the Washington, D.C. office of McDermott Will & Emery as a corporate transactional attorney.

Barrett holds a BA from Amherst College and a JD from Northwestern University School of Law.
